2021 Lent with Bethel Community
In Hebrews 4.15-16, the Story of God reminds us that Jesus is one who is able to sympathize with our weakness, that he has been tested as we are. Jesus’ desire and choice to share in our human experience is an invitation for us to approach God with boldness, so that we may find kindness and generosity in the ways in which we are in need.
Jesus is fully divine, but is also fully human, just like us. How can we get a glimpse of Jesus’ humanity, such that we can find the beauty in being human the boldness to draw near to Jesus, and the capacity to engage our community with shalom? This year, we will be exploring both the mystery and the practicality of Jesus being fully human and what it means for our embodied reality as human beings living in our current context.
Lent Postcards
As part of our Lenten practice, we want to make space for each of us to respond to the ways that Jesus knows and shares in our humanity. So, we have created postcards that will have space for us to visually express our engagement with each of the themes of the series. In the space provided, you can draw a picture, write some words, paste a picture or image, or express your reflection in whatever way you feel inspired. And on each Sunday of Lent, we’ll make space to share these reflections.
The cards have already been mailed out, but you can still participate by downloading and printing them using the link below. For optimal postcards, print the sheets front and back.
