Bethel Community has partnerships with other churches and non-profit organizations in San Leandro and other parts of the East Bay Area. Here are some of our local partners:

April showers

The Interfaith Homeless Network of San Leandro, also known locally as April Showers, was formed in 2002 to increase public awareness of, to advocate for, and to provide services to the homeless. It began with showers and now includes a chance to get bag lunches and water, receive haircuts, obtain referrals for social services, and receive new underwear, socks, and other toiletries. It also now runs a warming shelter during winter months, in partnership with Building Futures for Women and Children and the city of San Leandro.

Aprils Showers runs every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of the month at Creekside Community Church: 951 Macarthur Blvd. San Leandro, CA

Building Futures for Women and Children

Since 1986, Building Futures for Women and Children has been partnering with individual in San Leandro and Alameda County who are experiencing challenges to obtaining and keeping permanent housing. Their work centers on supporting the unhoused and victims of domestic violence. Bethel Community is grateful to be working alongside Building Futures as we seek to serve unhoused individuals and families in our city.

SAN LEANDRO 2050

San Leandro 2050 is a local, community based organization that envisions a city that eliminates its greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, to reverse the negative effects of climate change. They currently have partnered with our church to form a community garden on our church campus!

San Leandro Community Food Pantry

The goal of the San Leandro Community Food Pantry is to provide hunger relief to low-income and homeless Alameda County residents through our weekly food pantry assistance. It started in 2013 as a ministry of Bethel Community, as church members began to recognize the needs of the homeless and marginalized in the San Leandro/San Lorenzo area.

In 2017 it formed a Board of Directors and became a 501(c)(3) non-profit. That year, it served over 400,000 pounds of food to more than 39,000 clients and their family members.

The food pantry is open every Thursday, from 6-8pm, on the Bethel Community campus.
