Following Jesus as our model, we encounter God, ourselves, and one another intentionally in these ways:
WE EMBODY A HEALING, JOYFUL HOME.
As people who have commonly experienced hurt, abuse, and trauma through the institution of church, we encounter a merciful God who is the source of unconditional love and belonging while we pursue holistic healing together. We cultivate restful, safe and trauma-informed spaces where people from all backgrounds can come home to their true selves, as we joyfully celebrate and affirm the goodness of every member.
WE HONOR OUR ROOTS
As a PC(USA) church composed of people from a diversity of faith backgrounds, we encounter God through the rich but complex histories and traditions we inhabit. We remain intentionally centered around Jesus, rooted in the authority of Scripture, and engaged with Church history, confessions, and sacraments in thoughtful ways, while still honoring the Spirit’s movements in our world today.
As a congregation of the PC(USA) denomination, we abide by the confessional nature of the Church and the faith established by the PC(USA) Book of Confessions.
WE RESPOND WITH CURIOSITY
As people embracing mystery as an integral part of our faith, we encounter God in the midst of our tensions, questions, and wandering together. We move beyond binary thinking and hold a posture of openness and curiosity for our own journeys of unforming and forming, without judging where others might be in their journey.
WE BUILD TOWARD REPAIR
As people committed to the non-violent way of Jesus, we pursue God’s vision of justice that leads to restoration and transformation, rather than punishment and shame. We form community practices and policies that seek to reduce both interpersonal and institutional harm, while also creating pathways for healing, accountability, and repair when harm has occurred.
WE MOVE WITH EXPANSIVENESS
As people inspired by the wild and surprising movements of the Holy Spirit, we keep our hearts soft and our spirits malleable to be stretched together in the act of reimagining church. We welcome both innovation and a spirit of play as we think more expansively about church, while stewarding our church people, gatherings, resources, and property creatively for the common good.
WE CO-CREATE WITH HOPE AND LOVE
As people who belong to a Triune God marked by mutuality, partnership, and shared mission, we actively resist hierarchy and foster collaboration in our life together. From young to old, we honor the particularity of every member’s voice, gifts, and imagination, as we co-create a church that is both hopeful for and committed to the flourishing of the entire community of creation.
